The Barr Foundation can be the conduit and worthwhile organization for a tax
deductible donation of equipment and or components.
We have ongoing amputee assistance efforts and fully partially equipped
facilities in South and Central America.
The Barr Foundation would appreciate receiving the prosthetic devices you
are referring to in your below inquiry specifically for our third world
efforts further described at our web site at www.oandp.com/barr Dollar
donations are also gratefully received.
Upon receiving your in-kind donation we will acknowledge the donation and
provide you with our fed tax ID# so that you may donate the items for tax
purposes. You may also deduct from your ordinary income the cost for
reasonable shipping costs incurred .
Please enclose to whom our acknowledgement should go to in the shipment
box/container.
When in doubt of reusable condition for reapplication ,do not send!
All good condition stump socks, sheaths, shrinkers can be toughly washed and
reused.
Presently we provide prosthetic rehabilitation assistance programs with
Rotary Clubs in Guyana,Columbia, Ecuador, Peru South America, and
Honduras,Central America and Mexico as well as domestically thru USA
sponsoring prosthetists (over 1200 amputees sponsored by 630 prosthetists to
date!)
see www.oandp.com/resources/organizations/barr/list.htm
We also accommodate other legitimate non profits requests in donating
selected components to their specific efforts.
We do not declare value to any in-kind donations. However, the donors may
determine, thru their tax accountants, if there are possible tax benefits
for their donations. However, more importantly, I can assure you that any
amputee that we use the components for will not be charged any fees
whatsoever.
If you have any additional questions or concerns please don't hesitate to
contact me.

Subject: [OANDP-L] reply to inquiry about donations of equipment
I received many responses to my request of where to send supplies for
donation. The best place to look is the following. There were many other
groups responding that are not on the list. I would suggest that if those
groups are not on the list, should get on the list. Other suggestion was to
donate to O and P schools.
Thank you for all the responses,
Nathan Keepers, CPO
Nathan, If you want some suggestions on where to donate, check out the
Oandp.com - Humanitarian page.... it lists dozens of organizations around
the country and around the world, who need o&p components for their
missions....
we put the database together to help people like you find the
organizations needing help and for the orgs. to get the word out to the o&p
community that they accept donations and are looking for volunteers for
short term trips.................
Check it out it is pretty cool .........
