Dear Colleagues,
I have a client who has a flaccid below knee residuim due to polio as a
child. (No Quads or Hamstrings) He currently uses a regular PTB style
prosthesis with thigh lacer and the foot in plantar flexion to cause a knee
extension moment to lock his knee. He has had this style of limb for many
years before I was his prosthetist. I would like to know if anyone has used
a SPL joint from Fillauer or similar stance phase control joint in this
circumstance. Is this joint very reliable and fairly low maintenance? I am
sure it would be very beneficial to be able to walk with a properly aligned
foot and be much more energy efficient. Thanks for any help or tips with
this situation.
