Colleagues,
I am attempting to create a fitting plan for a female, 35 yrs., 5'3, 160 lbs. with a right PFFD. There is no femoral connection to the acetabulum, but a 1 gap between proximal and distal bony remnants. Her lower leg and foot are near normal in structure and strength. She currently transfers by lowering herself to her right foot and walking from chair to wheelchair, but with some pain due to the lack of skeletal structure. Longer walking times increase the pain. Ischium is normal and she had an ischial containment socket as a youth when her weight was considerably less. She is a stay at home mom and would be much more functional and have a longer productive life with a prosthesis. Have any of you had a successful outcome with such a case or similar enough to apply some ideas?
I am anxiously awaiting your response,
Lane Ferrin CP
