This week's Barr Foundation salute goes to my friend and the very
popular, always traveling, smiling Irishman Kevin Carroll LP, whose priority
has always been people first, and to Joan Edelstein MA,PT,FISPO, a world
-renowned authority in O&P.

I just received a copy of their recently released hardcover book edition,
Prosthetic and Patient Management: A Comprehensive Clinical Approach. A home
run indeed !!! Very well done.

All 266 pages are fully packed of comprehensive and useful information and
illustrations for all persons facing limb loss, surgeons, prosthetists
,therapists, nurses and aspiring clinicians.

It properly endorses the importance of the clinical team approach to better
assure achieving 100% prosthetic rehabilitation, including the crucial
aspects of proper amputation surgery to provide a sound limb foundation, by
Drs. Jan and William Ertl, to Post Operative and Pain Management, to Beyond
the Basics.
Its got it all.. without bias, politics, or turf war innuendos .

P&P Management, is a easy to read, a current and practical approach to O&P
care.

In my humble opinion, P& P Management is the first and only publication in a
100 years that surpasses in valuable content and will also be regarded as a
industry classic for the profession since 1905 the date of the publication
Manual of Artificial Limbs by A.A Marks.

It should be a must read for every student preparing to become a
prosthetist, orthotists, therapists and all other health care professionals,
and for every seasoned veteran professional working with amputees.

Congratulations Kevin and Joan. This book will and should be regarded as a
tribute to the profession of O&P and as a testimonial to Kevin's personal
philosophy (and my own) People First.

Each Friday the Barr Foundation sends a post and similar salute to a person
or Hope Donor whom has made a great difference in a life.

Such Whole Again stories hopefully will help make your weekend and to
remind you, knowing that most of you whom became professionals and industry
providers, got into this business to help people, that you are accomplishing
allot and are appreciated.

With your help and support, the Barr Foundation has helped over 1200
amputees become whole again who otherwise would not have the financial
resources to do so for themselves.

Want to help someone become whole again? Go to our web site

Have a great weekend,
