Last month I send a post to the list serve subscribers for assistance in
locating a qualified prosthetist in Kenya, in the Tharaka District of
Africa. It is one of the biggest districts in Kenya. It is about 5 hours
north of Nairobi. It is near Mt. Kenya also. The nearest town is Meru.
The 13 year old boy we are trying to help get a prosthesis and we have the
components that ,once determined, can be sent down by private courier.
Does anyone know of a prosthetist that can evaluate and provide the initial
prosthetic rehabilitation for this boy and subsequent fittings? If so we
would appreciate you contacting me.
The Barr Foundation will provide components and subsidize the cost.
Thank you,

My name is Lynn Miller and I am the Executive Director of a missions
organization that ministers to the people of Kenya. I have a 13 year old
boy who was run over by a truck and the lower part of his leg was completely
stripped away. I have had him to two mission's hospitals in Kenya but they
say he can only have the lower part of his leg amputated. If that is to
happen, I must find an organization that is will to provide an artificial
leg for him. It is hard enough to exist in this country as a whole person,
but it is almost impossible to live with a handicap. I live in Kenya 9
months out of the year so I am well aware of the circumstances this child
must survive in. Is there any help from you to get this child a prosthesis?
Please respond either to <Email Address Redacted> or call me at 850-837-9405,
850-368-2805. Thank you. Lynn Miller
