Mr. Stokosa,
I read your post and was genuinely disturbed by it.
If Tony Barr were to gaze into a mirror, just what would he or should he see there? I am not attempting to be sarcastic with my inquiry, but obviously there is something you know about Mr. Barr that I am unaware of. I admit I have never met Tony Barr in person. I have emailed him a time or two, and I once talked with him on the telephone for approximately a half-an-hour or so. He seems genuine enough to me. Most of what I really know of him, I have gleaned by reading his numerous posts on the List-serve. He appears to be a very dedicated selfless individual, and I can find little fault with his sentiment. He has passionately advocated patient's rights for decades by championing proper patient care, both surgically and prosthetically. To my way of thinking, he has publicly displayed precious little to criticize in light of his statements, priorities, or activities.
So if you would be kind enough to inform me, just what sort of misconduct are you implying Tony is guilt of? Is your grievance with him simply one of a personal nature, or are you publicly suggesting he is guilty of some verifiable lapse in ethics?
I personally have met Dennis and Todd on a few occasions and have even had one or two serious discussions with them over the years. I must say that I am highly disappointed and deeply saddened to hear about their behavior and actions in regards to Mike Corcoran. In the past I have held a very high opinion of both these men. The whole story may not have emerged at this point, but in light of the facts thus far, it appears they have some explaining to do. Their alleged activity falls far short of any conscientious or considerate ethical behavior I would care to advocate.
Tony's commentary contains no disparaging inaccuracies that I am aware of. His observations do present an additional pertinent insight though. He highlights the fact that neither Dennis nor Todd (to the best of my knowledge) are licensed physical therapists. While it is true that Mr. Barr is a mere consumer and not a healthcare professional, I fail to see how that is relevant in this instance. Mr. Barr is more than aptly qualified to distinguish between ethical and unethical behavior in a matter such as this. He is not attempting to inveigle professional fees for his opinions, rather he is contributing to an ongoing discussion which he has every right to do in this circumstance.
In my opinion, Tony is simply pointing out that some of Dennis and Todd's professional behavior should be considered a flagrant breech of ethics, especially when considering the duplicitous method by which it appears they were able to facilitate it. I not only endorse Tony's opinion wholeheartedly in this instance, but I also support his right to say it as well.
Sincerely And With Best Professional Regards,
Kim L. Ruhl CPO
