My great thanks to all who responded to my questions .
below are the original post and rest of responses :
Dear members
A male amputee has reffered to me with his left leg amputated across the tibia , 3cm distal to knee and knee has been fixed in a slight degree of flexion .
He,s used a knee prosthesis bearing his weight from both the end of the stamp and ischial tuberosity .
He has mush schars in lateral thigh and has used his prothesis for more than 20 yaers .
Now he is intended to have a prosthesis with microprocessor knee joint .
Do anyone knows any microprocessror knee suitable for him?
I also appreciate your input about the best type of socket for this amputee .
Best regards

just a brief comment on the fitting of a knee joint laterally to the anatomical knee joint...Surely the alignment and balance of the limb would be wrong.
I would never consider fitting and aligning a limb where the knee joint and foot placement is 3 or 4 inches lateral to the weight line as this would produce a gait which is
1 too wide
2 causes great rotation forces on the hip....
3 a tendancy to laterally bend the trunk or other compensation to get the centre of gravity over the prosthesis at mid stance.
would you want to walk like John Wayne all the time.

am currently providing a prosthesis identical to your patients needs. Enclosed are some photos for your viewing. If I can be of assistance please advised. (Note*) The duct tape is the patients way of providing a soft spunge for a knee pant protector.
