Diabetic foot orthotics?

Hello everyone,

I have a quick question about these darn A5513 codes for Medicare
diabetics. I am actually forwarding this question from our billing department.
Is anyone out there having trouble getting paid for A5513 from Medicare. We
have called AOPA and followed every direction out there and still issues
arise. We have been through the correct modifiers, Lcodes and medical necessity
forms. Our shoes are fine (if you call the reimbursement fine). We generally
do not have billing problems so, this has been foreign to us. It is bad
enough that we get scalped by the price.
Is it possible that certain Medicare numbers are prone to discrimination in
payments? Is it possible for a Pediatrist to get paid and not an O&P shop?
Even when you use the exact same prescription? Trust me, I am not fighting
for the right to be Al Bundy, but shoes are enough aggravation without payment
issues. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
