Dear Colleagues,
Presented with following:
Dx: 66yo Male Pensioner
92 CVA with resultant Left Hemiplegic Foot drop
Mild extensor pattern tone - 1+/5 Modified Ashworth Scale
Good ROM - 5˚ Dorsiflexion, 50˚ Plantar Flexion @ ankle
Wearing OTS Leaf-spring AFO.
Client requested specific external AFO.
Description matched old rat-trap style Dorsiflexion spring device.
BUT he insisted that this device required no pin or ferrule to be inserted
to heel.
Rather it had an adjustable saddle arrangement that wrapped
behind the heel counter and under the heel block of the shoe.
Specific desire to avoid modification to footwear!
Please advise if there was or still is such a device.
Will post replies.
