The Orthotic & Prosthetic Assistance Fund, Inc. (OPAF) held another First
Volley tennis clinic this past weekend in Pennsylvania to rave reviews. OPAF
wants to share with the O & P community our successes with First Volley and
the way that First Volley is impacting lives of amputees, orthosis wearers
and those with physical challenges.
Below is the unsolicited response from one of our first time attendees.
Dear Robin,
Thank you so much for your part in making last night's O and P Assistance
Fund First Volley Tennis Clinic such a success. I personally had such a
wonderful time. I came away from that event inspired for what is possible
in terms of amputee tennis. Your staff and the staff at the Buck's County
Tennis Club were amazing. Thank you being so generous with your time-and I
had no idea I would walk away with so many gifts. Your support and
encouragement really added to the enjoyment of the evening. Thank you for
spending your Saturday night with us. It made such a difference for me. I
don't know if I shared with you previously that I played tennis for about
ten years prior to my amputation. Only over the past year have I been able
to play sports again-and you wouldn't believe how much joy that brings me.
Further, I am so thankful to have connected with the amputees who I met at
the event. In the past 10 years I have been searching for above-knee
amputees who are active. As you know-there aren't many of us, but last
night we had a good representation. I hope that we will double in size next
year. I look forward to inviting amputees to the next First Volley Tennis
Clinic because I am sure that others would enjoy this event as well. If you
have any photographs from the event I would be grateful if you could send
them my way.
Thank you again for a wonderful evening.
Sincerely,
Danny
