Dear List,
A transtibial patient of mine recently called to report they had burned their thigh while cooking in the wheelchair. The resulting first and second degree burns are now healed yet the skin is understandably tender.
The patient wears a gel type liner and we are wondering how best to toughen the skin to tolerate the liner?
Rubbing alcohol burns, and we are now trying tea bag compresses, in hope the tannins in the tea leaves will do the trick.
Your thoughts?
