Nathan,

Please allow me to retort on some of the misinformation that has appeared on
the listserv as a result of your inquiry. Bellacure is not a soft good. The
device has internal shells, hinge, and cabling mechanisms. To compare this
to some sort of simple sleeve offered to our O@P community shows a clear
lack of understanding on how the device works, and what components are
encapsulated under the TD skin.

The following quote is taken from one of your responses, . The bELLACURE IS
REALLY ONLY A SOFT GOOD DEVICE, and is limited in it's capability. It will
migrate; it will stretch; it will accumulate heat, sweat and grime; it'll
come unravled. All of this by an individual that states, Being unfamiliar
with this device. Allow me to clarify; the device does not migrate, and is
guaranteed against such, it does stretch to the conformity of the patient's
anatomy, but is limited by the 60% stretch textile. No Overstretching. The
textile is a breathable, washable, and abrasion resistant. Furthermore, it
comes with a pain relief and satisfaction guarantee. We do not sell the TD
over the Internet, we are not owned by Wal-Mart, we are not members of NOMA,
and we fully support the efforts of the O@P community unlike some companies.

Myth #10- Charlie Barokas is not my Father. He has a professional
organization that considers advancements in the orthotics community and
shares these advancements with students and colleagues. His reference to
Bellacure is his view of where the industry is headed. I too read the
comments on the listserv.

To further add insult to the posting the individual states, I believe that
good Orthopedists and Physiatrists will see the enduring need for good rigid
custom OA bracing. I do not know who has the agenda here, but it isn't
Bellacure. We never asked for the additional press on the listserv. We just
responded to a request for information. If the respondent actually believes
his/her own quote then they are not looking into the future of orthotics and
prosthetics with an open mind. The development of this product was based on
the forward thinking advice of our O@P professionals that we value.

This quote is so below the profession that it is unworthy of comment.

'Bellacore's baloon will eventually pop. Wallmart may gain the Bellacure,
but there is consolation to be taken. If it's not already made in China, it
has yet to be available at the dollar stores, thus nixing even some MDs, CO,
BOCOs... and Walmarts market! We all are free to vote with our dollars...
Unlike some things, this ones not a keeper.'

6 Months-thousands of patients fit- no returns because a patient failed to
get pain relief! Maybe that a bit strong for someone who is Being
unfamiliar with this device.

Cheers,

Being unfamiliar with this device, I studied the manufacturer web site and
other interesting links on my AOL search engine. I like the one on OANDP-L
Archives Dec.'05 by Charles Barocas, CO (R). 'He's retired to Walmart
employment due to his perspective that C/POs are becoming more and more
obsolete.' He may have lost a thriving OA market nitch to this Bellacure
device, and as all of us have experienced has been discouraged by the non
certified encroachment into our field. This is where we have to be resilient
with our diverse capabilities to provide a vast array of custom P&O devices
and services. The bELLACURE IS REALLY ONLY A SOFT GOOD DEVICE, and is
limited in it's capability. It will migrate; it will stretch; it will
accumulate heat, sweat and grime; it'll come unravled... I believe that good
Orthopedists and Physiatrists will see the enduring need for good rigid
