It's almost time! The Academy's Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium is
less than a week away. The Academy promises that this year's meeting in
Chicago will be the best ever. We all know that many organizations claim
that every meeting will be the best ever, but the Academy is somehow able to
usually deliver on that promise.

There always seems to be something at each meeting that tends to be the
talk of the town. For this year's meeting, the talk of the town will
likely be the Orthotic & Prosthetic Assistance Fund's STRUT YOUR STUFF
competition. OPAF asked the industry to submit their most creative and
unusual socket designs. These designs were not required to be functional or
practical, just to be creative and fun. The response to OPAF's challenge to
submit creative socket designs has been exceptional. We are amazed at some
of the entries (which will remain secret until next week). Some of these
sockets have close to 100 hours of time invested in the design and
construction! The OPAF display will feature these sockets in a head-to-head
blind competition. Sockets will be displayed on Wednesday and Thursday
without revealing who designed and constructed the sockets. Everyone will
be allowed to vote for their favorite socket. The winner will be revealed
on Friday, along with the name of the person or facility who submitted each
socket. This will truly be a don't miss opportunity.

While at the OPAF display, take a few minutes to also view the many unique
items up for bid in our Silent Auction. Most importantly take a look at
what OPAF is doing as The Official Philanthropy of the U.S. Orthotic and
Prosthetic CommunityTM.

We look forward to seeing you in Chicago!
