Thanks for all the responses. I have listed them below. The chapter is from
the teaching manual at Texas Southwestern Medical Center P&O Program. Thanks
go out to Susan Knapp for providing additional information needed.
As a side note: According to the physician conducting the study, it will be
presented as an abstract for presentation to the national meeting of Rehab
Medicine conference in the fall of 2006. If the abstract is accepted, it
will submitted to the Archives of PM&R at a later date. Once this occurs, he
will notify me so I can notify the list serve of the study being in print.
John Mooney, CPO
*I don't know the reference, but when they publish the info, if you could
notify the list as to where it is published, or at least myself, I would
appreciate it.
Thanks,
Nathan Keepers, CPO
* Sorry my reference materials are boxed up and in a ware house. I however,
have a suggestion that the physicians can get tons of reference from a very
impressive book which probably is in every medical college library. Title of
the books is as follows
Amputation Surgery and Rehabilitation : The Toronto Experience Ed. Dr. John
P Kostuik and Dr. Rober Gillespie.
Besides Googling will give you the whole list of references.
V.K. Sharma CP(C) LPO(TX) BOCOP, RPOA
*Contact Don Cummings, CP at Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas,Texas
214-5597440 or Susan Kapp, CPO Director of P/O at Southwestern Medical
Center in Dallas. I believe they wrote that Chapter for the U.T.
Southwestern Program.
I have their reference list if you give me your fax number.
Tom Padilla,CPO
*The definitive work in IPOP was done by Dr. Burgess from the U. of
Washington. There was a book (soft cover) published, I got a copy in
the late 70's. Sorry I don't have my copy handy to find your quotes.
You might try contacting U of Washington P&O school, they should have
reference copies.
Morris Gallo
*I'd be grateful if you'd post responses and if possible brief synopsis
of IPOP research findings.
Thanks in advance,
Frank
*That would be the Below Knee Prosthetics, The University of
Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. We referred to it as The
