As an 1) ABC Certifee, 2) Academy Member, 3) a principal in a facility
which is both a) an NAAOP and b) an AOPA Member and personally, a long -
long - long time part of the O&P Community (49 years), I want to extend
a very big THANK YOU to the leaders of those four organizations who have
been instrumental in bringing together this O&P ALLIANCE.
The forming of the alliance is truly a monumental step - a step that had
to be taken prior to the alliance being able to walk. To walk as in
truly realizing the potential this alliance brings us.
In my view, differences over the years have developed between and among
our organizations when there is no or very limited discussion taking
place among the individuals who are in leadership positions at the time
- be cognizant of the fact, that those differences are not between the
organizations, but between/among the organization leaders in place at
the time.
Further, it is my very strong belief that what is accomplished is not
about the particular organization (whether ABC, Academy, NAAOP, AOPA)
which one gets credit for some accomplishment - it absolutely does NOT
matter. What does matter is that something POSITIVE gets done. And how
better for that positive to happen than by bringing together in one
room, the organizations leaderships, with a forum such as the alliance,
for their ideas/thoughts/positions/etc. to be openly discussed and
vetted. And might it not help one organization, sometime in the future,
from going off half-cocked on some issue. Does this not represent a WIN
for the O&P Community - you and me?
From my experience, I have found that anytime the leaders of OUR
organizations (without wearing their organization hats) can be brought
together, consensus is usually - almost always - achieved. Proving
again and again, that we are all the same people - the O&P Community!
Therefore my thanks and appreciation to the individuals in the current
leadership positions of our organizations for bringing this Alliance
together - A TRULY MONUMENTATL STEP FORWARD!
