Hello all, have a desire to send a new front office staff person to a
fitters school either the Truform, Freeman, Deroyal or Trulife. Want to
build on her CNA background and have her start training as an assistant for
practitioners. Any comments regarding these courses and experiences would be
appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Ralph, I went to the Camp fitters course a couple years ago to gain some
basic orthotic fitting knowledge, so I could help out with off the shelf
orthotics. It was very good.... I probably don't do more than a dozen ots
fittings a year but it did help me to feel more competent.... They just did
not teach how to fit a back brace at Newington PROSTHETIC
school...haha....... My boss chose Camp instead of the others so I cant
compare or help you with the other schools.....
the school will give your employee some basic knowledge to work with.. my
vote is yes.........
Camp is probably the best. It's a week.
I sent my assistant to a Camp (Trulife) course. He felt about 1/2 of it was
of great value. The other 1/2 was selling their product line and describing
fittings of orthoses beyond the scope of practice of an assistant. But, I
think the experience was beneficial for him. His confidence has increased
dramatically.
trueform is fine!
I think that Camp had the best course for fitters. You might check them
out.
it is like tying a ribbon around a pig and passing it off as a prom date. But
any of these courses are better than nothing. Money better spent on night
classes taking the prerequisite courses suggested by post graduate courses
in o and p. Biomechanics, anatomy and physiology,.......
