Have patient with previous radial head injury that does extreme sports.
Wants low profile functional elbow orthosis for support during these
activities.
Know of the Donjoy CE Elbow but was wondering what other options exist
whether they be OTS slimline or custom.
Will mail the list.

for the best control and support and protection as well as durability -- you
need to go custom. It will be the lowest profile too.
try Townsend for a laminated elbow brace www.townsenddesign.com good luck
As far as a elbow orthosis for extreme sports I've found that custom works
best. I've made both laminated and polypro type orthoses. The key to good
functional and protective elbow orthoses is the joint alignment and knowing
the stresses that the particular sport will apply to the joint and how much
force is being applied. If all you want to do is stop hyper extension then
OTS orthoses can work but if you are looking for more control custom is the
way to go. You are able to set your trimlines and also leave plastic for
additional protection that you can't do with OTS orthoses.
Good luck on your decision,
Custom prepreg with Gaffneys might work.
townsend makes one also, i consider it better than donjoy for sports
I have used the Townsend custom Elbow orthosis on a bull rider (rodeo). It
was reasonably low profile and very durably constructed. It fit well and the
patient has not returned with any problems (although that may just mean that
the bull won).
Bregg have one with a slim line functional hinge like on the Tradition

They have a few options both OTS and custom. they also have a carver, and
accept AOP files, which can save a few bucks... Talk to Bret, their CO.
I get custom neoprene from Benik corp in Silverdale WA (800) 442-8910
have you considered townsend, they also make a custom elbow
My advice on the DJ elbow brace: don't waste your money on it, it's bulky
and over priced. Make your own, that's what we're trained to do. Here's what
I make for high level contact sports:
