Group,
In reading all of the posts regarding licensure, I can relate to the concerns that everyone has. However, It is my belief that licensure will ultimately benefit ALL; patients and practices as well. Licensure will make it more difficult for suppliers and others to infringe on our industry. This is significant, especially with the Physical Therapy Direct Access movement. One of the few unlicensed health care professions, we will come closer to establishing ourselves as Professionals and not DME vendors; something we have been trying to do for years and something that has impacted our fee allowables. YES, Medicare is moving in the direction of limiting certain services to qualified individuals and in those states with licensure a licensed practitioner. AND absolutely licensure WILL ultimately impact your bottom line. How many practices have been subject to costly audits as result of unqualified providers bombarding Medicare with fraudulent claims? How often has charge data been skewed because a VARIETY of individuals/suppliers are erroneously and billing L codes?
.................In the spirit of competition, it is , among other
things, creativity and business savy that sets us apart.
