I thought this was a great post from Terry Supan and really showed, to
some degree, what Licensure can do. I am, confused as to this big list
of people who can be licensed. For those of you going to the Chicago
AAOP meeting - I'm doing a talk on Consumerism in Healthcare. The
structure is to go over what changes are taking place in healthcare,
what companies are doing in response and I hope to have most of the time
for discussion as to WHAT are we, as a community of practice, going to
do to set us apart.
Looking at the WHOLE FOODS model.... They set up right down the street
from a big supermarket in the Pittsburgh area that has been well
established for decades. Very typical supermarket. And we are not
talking a high rent area. Whole foods pulls people from ALL OVER and is
constantly jammed packed. This is a company that looked at a typical
model and re-made it - in state after state - successfully! And they
really serve people GOOD things, in the RIGHT package (good employees,
good displays, etc).
This is what I would love to discuss at the Consumerism session and get
everyone's brains running on how we are going to REMAKE the O&P
business.
Thank you all for the great feedback on the LICENSURE issue - It's
extremely interesting to hear all the sides.
