The Oscar Velasquez story is not unique to the Barr Foundation nor is the
happy conclusion.
Prosthetist Michael Oviedo LPO, of Ryder Orthopedics in Ft.Meyers, Florida,
contacted us the Barr Foundation, in November about assisting this
individual for replacement legs (both).
He has was currently unable to fix them and they were very worn due the fact
that Mr. Velasquez works everyday to support his family doing manual labor.
I was able to make a arrangement with two Where Hope Meets Help Donor Club
members , whom are manufactures of the components required for Mr.
Velasquez's treatment.
ALPS SOUTH of St.Petersburg donated the liners and Freedom Innovations from
Irvine ,California , donated the prosthetic feet .
Ryder Orthopedics provided deep discount considerations for their services
and labor.
I am delighted to say Oscar has been successfully fitted and his and our
gratitude go to Alps South, Freedom Innovations, and Ryder for their
humanitarian contributions.
.
The Barr Foundation has been able to provide prosthetic rehabilitation to
over 1200 amputees in the USA and abroad whom otherwise could not afford it.
We are able to do this thru the help of sponsoring prosthetists and our
Where Hope Meets Help Donor Club members.
Each week we will send a post and similar salute to a person or Hope Donor
(s) whom has made a great difference in a life.
Such Whole Again stories hopefully will help make your week and to remind
you, knowing that most of you whom became professionals and industry
providers, got into this business to help people, that you are accomplishing
allot and are appreciated.
