Prosthetic Limb Donations/ NLLIC Fact Sheet

Prosthetic components are generally not reused in the United States
because of legal considerations. However, used prosthetic limbs may be
disassembled and the components shipped to Third World countries for use
by landmine victims and/or other individuals in need. The following
organizations accept donations of used prosthetic limbs and/or

peer support and aid to those who have lost one or more limbs either

endeavor to aid amputees.

Local Prosthetic Facilities
Some prosthetic facilities sponsor periodic trips to Third World
countries in order to provide prosthetic services. They may collect used
limbs and prosthetic componentry for distribution through these
programs. Contact a local facility for opportunities and specifics.

I should know what to do with donated items except the organization that
I usually worked with is not accepting donations now. So I have a
growing pile of used items to send to someone who will acknowledge the
donator/estate and put these items to use again.
