Hello everyone
I hope everyone is doing great and warm. I am doing
good and preparing myself for some cold weather.
I am going to Muzaffarabad the capital of Azad Jumbo
Kashmir AJK tomorrow at 07:00. Military time. It is
about 7,000 ft above sea leave at some places there.
It hasn't got any snow pack yet but gets pretty cold
at night and in the mornings. There has been some
snow flurries however. I missed out on our December 17
camping trip to Cumberland Island, GA but actually end
up on an adventure all its own. See camping trip
buddies you should have come you would have loved it.
(you know who you are) hehehe
The Military is taking us via helicopter to the
affected area. I have a meeting with the Secretary of
Health about arranging a place for use to setup camp
to help in the relief effort. We have typed a
proposal for them to see. I hope everything goes
through without problems. The Corp. Commander in
Rawalpindi has spoken with the Secretary General of
AJK and has briefed him about our cause and or
mission. He is basically given us the green light to
have all of the Armies support. They have great need
here in Islamabad the capital city of Pakistan. But
the Military of Pakistan, and the powers to be has
said to setup where there is no such support and that
is in the affected areas. So I leave tomorrow or
actually today technically because it is now 2:30 am.
I received all my goods that were shipped today from
the airport. I have had an excellent response through
the Military. I will hopefully take some more
pictures on the flight in and there. The fact that
nobody here at the place I am staying has a DVD drive
on the computer I haven't yet sent pictures. I have
found an Internet cafe tonight so when I get back I'll
go there and set it up to be emailed to everyone.
Yesterday was an exciting day for me because one I
received my goods all intact and stored them away from
harm. I have full access to them and will begin my
mission. I spent the whole day at the Chakalala PAF
Pakistan Air Force Base which is attached to the
Islamabad Airport. I have taken many pictures and
videos of the storage facilities and relief effort in
action by the government. While I was there an
American Military cargo plane came in. I am sure it
was the Galaxy the biggest monster plane I have ever
fully appreciated other than the B-52. I witnessed
helicopters taking off and landing at the base and
meet with the Brigade Officer Shrazi and Col. Abrar.
They are both the most nicest and sincere men to date
other than my cousin who is Col. Shiraz who has got
the Sponsor of the Lifetime Award in my eyes. I am so
impressed by the order, control, and power of the
armed forces here. They have shown me great respect
and for this am forever thankful. May God (Allah)
bless them all.
I have to go now but please remember that I will
email pixs and videos. If not I will share the
experience with everyone
when I get back.
Thanks for the support
Sincerely yours
Ferhan Maher
P.S. Col. Abrar is arranging a trip to K2 next year
with some Sweds and Yanks if your interested let me
know. You know I am down for it!
