Reports of similar cases (described below) and federal O&P contracting
irregularities and non compliance by providers ,noncompliance to state
licensure laws and VA contracting guidelines, have been rolling in.
ANYONE, whom has such knowledge and would agree to being interviewed by
legal counsel, possibly providing a deposition can contact me personally
via e-mail,telephone,or private meeting.
Your input will remain confidential unless otherwise authorized specifically
by you
Unfortunately , O&P providers in unregulated states, will find that they
have very little recourse from simialr abuses to present their cases to
certification boards or professional associations.
Its YOUR 'profession', protect it or loose it.

Subject: [OANDP-L] level playing field update
I just wanted to update the list on why this question came up. I found on
the Medicare website a geographical list of providers for prosthetics. When
I went there I found the 3 local O&P facilities as well as this rehab
center. So I called them anonymously and asked if they provided 'artificial
limbs', the representative told me that they did. I then asked who the
prosthetist was and she transferred me to the head of nursing services who
told me that they did not provide prostheses but provided rehab for
amputees. I asked who they would recommend that I go to. She said the
name of 1 facility and that if they couldn't do it that they would tell me I
could go to obtain one. I have done in-services for this rehab facility and
they have not had any problems with what little work I have done for their
patients. Because they were listed as a provider on the Medicare website
and used a call based on this to refer to only one facility, I questioned
the level playing field.
