The real kick of Medicaid taking back their payments and telling you to
bill Medicare, is that you may be getting into timely filing with
Medicare. I'd recommend you get it to Medicare asap. If they deny,
then rush to review. Be sure you verify w/ Medicare that this patient
really does have coverage and that they are going to go retro for over a
year. I'd also send a letter to the Medicaid medical director with a cc
to your congressman and senator. It may not do anything, but at least
it will be on record and if more of us do this, then we at least have
some documentation of the joys we experience in trying to get paid.
Good luck!

Subject: It just gets better everyday
I just hadanother fun adventure with medicaid and medicare and was
wondering if anyone else had. I fabricated a prostheses for a guy on 10
27 04 and after 3 months got paid from SC medicaid. Just last week I
recieved a letter from them stateing that this person just recently
recieved retroactive medicare and that medicaid will be withholding 12
grand from future claims and that I should bil medicare for the 04
prostheses. What a nightmare, It took forever to get notes for the new
socket I did for him last month getting notes from 04 from a doctor who
is no longer with the practice is going to be even worse.n Im holding p
my medicaid claims till this is resolved. I guess it would be to easy to
medicaid to retrieve the money dirctly from medicare. P. Cartaya CPO
