Dear Karen,
I had similar situation with another rather large Prosthetic Company. My
research lead me to understand that my name and address was being sold as it
were by the ACA to their advertisers. I contacted the ACA and it was
explained to me that each year when a membership renewal notice was sent out
I had the option of asking that my name not be sent to such companies for
solicitation. But I had to request it. I was told that the all mailing were
done by a blind 3rd party mailing system so that the company, (in your case
Hanger) did not have the personal information so no Hippa rules were broken.
I think this may be how your clients are receiving information. If they want
they can contact the ACA and ask that their name not be sent for other
solicitation. I did so and the mailing as you have gotten stopped.
Kind Regards

Good Morning!
Recently, we have had quite a few patients come in with a mailing from
Hangar regarding their prosthesis and a free evaluation and a DVD at one of
their local offices. Its amazing as most of our patients have been our
long term patients and have no knowledge of or any previous dealings with
them.
The owner of our company, Mort Levy, CPO, has asked that I inquire if
anyone else has heard of this, have seen the packet, and if their patients
have been getting this as well? Where is Hangar getting this list?
We do not divulge any patient names to any of our suppliers, so this is a
mystery???
Any feedback would be appreciated.
