Sr. Marlo Ortiz, CPO (M) is hosting a special Advanced MAS Seminar in his
hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico on February 15-17, 2006 to enable graduates
of the introductory OPGA-MAS Seminar to refine and expand their application
of his methods. The program is geared for the experienced practitioner who
is already having good success with basic transfemoral MAS fittings and is
ready to advance to the next level of clinical expertise.

The core of the seminar will be Marlo's step-by-step presentation of how his
MAS transfemoral fitting principles can be applied to hip disarticulation
amputation to provide the patient with a hemi-socket offering an
unparalleled level of comfort, control, and gait efficiency. During this
three-day span, Marlo will demonstrate his approach by evaluating, casting,
fitting, and delivering a definitive prosthesis for a hip disarticulation
amputee from New York. Attendees will receive a comprehensive manual
detailing the process.

Marlo will also discuss how to approach difficult fittings and special
cases, with an extensive series of case vignettes showing how to handle very
short femoral remnants, bilateral cases, severe scarring, and how to
successfully convert previous quadrilateral socket wearers to the MAS
socket. In many instances, the patients themselves will be present to
comment on their long-term experience with their prostheses and to answer
attendee questions. Another major emphasis will be on a systematic approach
to troubleshooting of MAS transfemoral sockets, both at the initial fitting
and during follow-up visits. Attendees are encouraged to submit questions
or case studies for Marlo to review and discuss during the seminar.

Early registration is encouraged as space is limited and the seminar will
not be offered again until 2007. For further information, please contact
OPGA at 800-21-6742.
