Subject: spina bifida amputee
i'm seeing a young teenage female patient who as of march 04' was a symes
amputee, after fracutring her tibia with and valgus angulation the fracutred
tibia was realigned with orif. patient has now developed mrsa and just last
week had the distal fractured tibia removed. now this patient has developed
osteomyelitis in the remaining tibia and will probally need further revision
requiring a knee disarticulation or trans femoral amputation. i would like
any one's advice on whether or not 1. you've dealt with spina bifida
amputees. 2. whether she would function better as knee disartic since she
has spina bifida.
Thanks, Kelvin Jones CO
