Dear Colleagues,
The Organising Committee for the 2007 World Congress of ISPO has been
working to develop the Scientific and Social program for the Congress.
As in past World Congresses, part of the program will consist of Basic
and Advanced Instructional Courses and Scientific Symposia.
We are writing to members of the worldwide prosthetics and orthotics
community to invite expressions of interest for presenting an
Instructional Course or Symposium. At this stage, we are only interested
in basic information about your proposed session: the title, a brief
description of the content, and possible speakers. Based on the
responses we receive, we will further develop our program. We may not be
able to accommodate all proposals and we may ask groups to collaborate
on the delivery of a session if there is overlap of material.
Each session will be one hour and 15 minutes. A session chair will
introduce speakers and direct discussion. There are no limits on the
number of speakers, the time allotted to each speaker or the structure
of the session but time should be allowed during or at the end of the
session for discussion.
The content of Basic and Advanced Instructional Courses and Symposia
should conform to the following guidelines:
* Basic Instructional Courses: Basic instructional courses should
present information on specific topics at a level suited to the
beginning practitioner or practitioners starting a new topic area. These
might be topics which receive limited coverage in undergraduate
curricula.
* Advanced Instructional Courses: Advanced instructional courses should
present information at an advanced level suited to experienced
clinicians who have already specialized or who are entering a
specialized area of treatment.
* Symposium: Symposia should present thematically related research
addressing significant problems or controversies in prosthetics and
orthotics. The symposia should bring together one or more of the world's
leading researchers to present current developments and planned research
directions. Where appropriate, Symposia should present differing points
of view on a particular topic.
To submit a proposal for an Instructional Course or Symposium, send an
e-mail to the Scientific Program Chair, Dr. Tim Bach (e-mail:
<Email Address Redacted> )
The deadline for submission of proposals is Friday, November 18th, 2005.
We look forward to hearing from you and we look forward to seeing you in
Vancouver.
Sincerely,
Sheila Hubbard
