I was hoping everyone could help me out with a question on your preferences for uncoated versus coated bars. When you order componentry from an O&P manufacturer, how do you order the bars? Do you prefer coating and if so, how you touch them up after bending? Are there coatings that dont need as much touch-up as others (powder coating, shrink tubing, e-coating, glass beading, clear coat, etc)?
In talking to a few practitioners, I have heard many choose to grind off the coating completely and then re-coat after bending.
I would imagine that uncoated bars would provide a cost-effective and time-saving option for those who wish to use them.
I would appreciate any thoughts or opinions on this issue. I will publish what feedback I receive to the OandP-L.
Thank you in advance!
