Text:

How nice of Medicare. They will not audit the companies that are wiped out
and will have minimal or no business for a long time to come. AOPA, GET THEM
TO STOP THE AUDITS FOR ALL STATES! We are not the providers abusing the
system. All these audits are doing is delaying payments and causing unnecessary
strains on providers that are trying to help our seniors whom have paid into the
system for many years. We are being forced to punish these seniors by
collecting $ up front b/c most providers can't wait 1-2 years to get paid. I just
completed a telephone hearing for a claim that was over 700 days outstanding.
The hearing officer did not understand why this claim was not paid long ago.
I have been through over 400 universal probe audits over the past 3 years and
eventually get paid on all. Don't you think after that kind of compliance
track record (100%), the auditing agency would realize that my organization is a
compliant one and focus their efforts elsewhere. Not so! Delay Delay Delay
tactics.
AOPA please ask the DMERC officials to look at the compliance track record of
the providers they have been auditing. It makes much sense for them to ease
up on the companies that have very positive compliance history. The current
system of lumping all of us together is wrong. I should not be punished b/c
the DME or O & P down the block is not compliant.
