We at the Academy share the concern of all Americans for those who have
suffered through hurricane Katrina. We also realize that our members,
their families and their patients will need our prayers and our help for
a long time to come. The Academy's Board of Directors has begun to
discuss how we can best be of help.

The Academy is making an effort to contact all of our members who were
working in states directly impacted by hurricane Katrina and the
Academy's President has told them we are looking at how we can work over
the next year to make sure that we channel our energies into helping
those O&P practitioners, their families and their patients. We have
asked those members for their specific suggestions in this regard.

We know that many organizations are raising money but we are also
looking at how we can make the connections for practitioners who may
have lost their jobs, and their patients who have been evacuated and
will need to connect with new practitioners for immediate and long term
assistance.

The Academy will continue efforts to offer some long term assistance.
