After a DME company spent one day in our community last month providing un-licensed services for custom diabetic orthotics and therapeutic shoes I contacted several elected officials pointing out all the reasons why what they were doing was not right. This month after seeing the same ad in the local newspaper I went to the Hall they rented and found that they were not taking impressions for custom molded inserts and measuring for shoes. This month they were only taking names and addresses to contact the people at a later date.
If you see un-licensed activity occurring in your area document it and contact your state and federal officials. It really does work. This is the only way to stop the Therapeutic Shoes for Diabetics benefit from deteriorating into an ineffective mail order program. Properly administered the TSD benefit positively benefit peoples lives and health.
