Are you tired of unwarranted, invalid denials from Medicare? Are you tired of following Medicare guidelines and still having your claim, your review, and your fair hearing denied?

We spoke with the legislative assistant for our US Representative today regarding this constant harassment by Medicare/Palmetto GBA. The advice that she gave us is put everything in writing. In other words, she couldn't help us. However, what if the whole industry puts EVERYTHING in writing when it comes to ridiculous Medicare issues and inundate our members of congress with piles of correspondence? They'll have two choices, make frequent trips to the shredder, or deal with this problem.

I know that most practices don't have the manpower or the time to fully deal with the Medicare problem. But, I don't think that we have the option to be complacent anymore. We need to inform congress, as well as the secretary for the DHHS, of this growing problem. We need to submit proof that we are following Medicare guidelines, if that means submitting pages of their own manual along with all other requested documentation, then so be it. We need to find out exactly who these fair? hearing officers are, and if they make a profit for each denial. We should make the general public aware of the expense that Medicare must incur by having to pay all of these adjusters, hearing officers, etc in order to deny a claim. Surely, that expense must exceed the expense of simply paying the claim.

We should demand satisfactory answers, after all we pay for Medicare and we pay our congress people.
