In 1920, Professor Janos Ertl, Sr., MD, of Hungary, developed the Ertl
procedure in order to return a high number of amputees to the work force.

During this time amputees had significant problems with pain and difficulty
with prosthetic wear. Today the procedure is responsible for improving the
lives of many amputees worldwide. The continued success of the Ertl
Procedure is now spearheaded by Ertl's grandsons, Dr. Jan Ertl of Kaiser
Permanente Sacramento in California and Dr. William Ertl of The University
of Oklahoma, Health Sciences Center.

There are over 30 surgeons now listed on the web site that perform the
procedure routinely or variations thereof .

The Barr Foundation, who launched the site several months ago, is pleased to
announce this most recent addition that will provide for communication
directly between the Ertls, amputees, prosthetists, physical therapists and
surgeons.

Check it out.
