Dear Frustrated Medicare Providers,
For those who request their Medicare patients to sign an ABN when there
may be a valid reason to expect a denial for services to be provided, do you ask
the patient to reimburse you after receiving the first denial or do you
typically go through the lengthy, months-long appeals process first? It is an
absolute shame that we would even have to put our patients in this situation, but
we are entitled to be paid by someone, either Medicare or the patient, for
what we do in a fair and timely manner. All responses will be posted for your
review and consideration. Thank you.
