TWO MORE RESPONSES TO THE NIGHT SPLINT QUESTION:
DAWN: IF YOU CHECK WITH MEDICARE THERE IS A SPECIFIC CODE FOR THE NIGHT SPLINT L4396. IF YOU GO TO TRICENTURION YOU CAN PRINT OUT THE DESCRIPTION. THAT DESCRIPTION STATES NIGHT SPLINT FOR PLANTAR FASCIITIS. THE ALLOWABLE FOR REGION A IS 131.29. HOPE THIS HELPS H. OBAYLEY
The correct code is L4396 not L4398. SADMERC/DMERC has published specifics on using this code. L1930 is not correct.
THANKS!
(DMERC Region D Manual states that L4396 is to be used for the non-ambulatory or minimally ambulatroy patient. This says to me that this code can not be used for the active senior who develops plantar fascitis and needs the night splint, at night, to maintain their mobility during the day. Doesn't seem quite right to me--Dawn)
