Here is the full obituary for Mr. Blair Hanger, who was my prosthetic teacher
also, he always encouraged me to continue even when I thought I couldn't make
it, I owe him a lot. He has left a great legacy in the Prosthetics field many
high achieving dedicated practitioners.

Herbert Blair Hanger
Herbert Blair Hanger, renowned in the field of prosthetics, died on June 15,
2005, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. He was 89. After serving in the
Coast Artillery during WWII, Blair worked at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington,
DC, where he became Officer-in-Charge of the Prosthetic-Orthotic Laboratory.
Following his military service, he managed the New York office of J. E. Hanger
Company, the world's leading prosthetics company, founded by his grandfather
in 1861. Northwestern University invited Mr. Hanger to co-found and become the
Director of Prosthetics Education. He retired in 1977 after a distinguished
career. For the last 28 years, he and his wife have lived in Chapel Hill. Mr.
Hanger was born in St. Louis, MO on July 28, 1915. He married Matilde Bustos in
1949. In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Elita Lee of Flower
Mound, TX and Grace Golden of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren; one
great-grandchild; a sister, Teresa Caldwell of Chapel Hill; and five nieces and nephews. In
addition to enjoying his family and travel, Blair was a gourmet cook and a
talented artist and photographer. Contributions may be made in his memory to the
American Diabetes Association, PO Box 1132, Fairfax, VA 22038.
