Does anyone have any design suggestions for resisting torsion in the
lower half of KAFOs with ankle joints?
A typical situation for this is external rotation of the foot seen in
APM where the roll-over occurs from posterior/lateral heel to
anterior/medial forefoot, tending to twist the ankle section.
I have seen various solutions including the use of carbon fibre
reinforcement and double metal calf bands. These can end up very heavy
and possibly over-engineered.
Any ideas?
