I just went to the web site Mr. Munroe refers to below: And guess what:
I got the surprise of my life -- all along I thought the only perfect
person had been crucified many many years ago, but what did I find -- he
is right here on this web site. I have not previously seen any person
or facility which was so perfect in every respect as this one. Take a
look, you to may be surprised.

Subject: [OANDP-L] The most honest response to date
I am a resident and new to this industry and have been visting this site
often. I also used to work as a product rep for a knee brace company
and that is what got me interested in becoming an ABC certifed
practitioner.
However, I believe this profession should take a closer look at itself
before we start throwing to many stones at others.
A friend of mine made me aware this week of a web site that is produced
by an ABC practitioner, Academy and AOPAmember and the site can be
viewed at <URL Redacted>
This AOPA member is advertising that he is THE Medicare prosthetic
PREFERRED PROVIDERS for Arkansas and Tennessee. There is no such thing
as a Medicare preferred provider.
This Academy member also promotes that 'Peers and Patients have voted
him BEST OF THE BEST. I do not remember hearing about any industry
(and therefore his peers) hosting a vote for this sort of thing. Did
anyone on this list serve vote for anyone?
This CPO promotes that he has a C-Leg certified facility. Otto Bock
does not certify facilities, they certify practitioners.
This CPO states on his site that If you suffer from chronic pain
syndrome, neuroma or any neurological problems, nobody short of a
neurosurgeon can help. Can a CPO really suggest that his skills to
relieve pain are comparable to a neurosurgeon?
This CPO advertises that they use the latest NASA engineered advances
for Prosthetics-Orthotics. I guess that means they use Velcro like
everyone else in the industry.
This CPO advertises that he is Nationally Licensed including the
following states Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois,
Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
There is no such thing as being Nationally Licensed, and if there was
such a thing as national licensing, would that not include all the
states in the nation? Does this really give our industry a lot of
credibility regarding our licensing standards?
With all due respect, and as a new member to this profession, I suggest
before we start throwing stones at others, we clean the windows on our
own glass house.
