ORIGINAL POST
Hi List members,
Does anyone know where one can find the nylon material as is used for
Easy Ins or the Power Pull donning socks? I want to get some of that
material in sheet or roll form to try another use for it.

If you're referring to the material used when putting on support hose or
the like, both Juzo and Jobst have special materials that they use for
donning their hosiery. I would also suggest you try getting a roll of
Tyvek material that you could cut to the size you want.
Slide sheets (used for rolling and sliding patients in hospital beds)
are made out of the same stuff. They are available in different sizes.
I've seen it at a fabric store, but it is usually expensive on the roll.
Maybe you can get it cheaper via an old used tent, or nylon pants at a
thrift store.... just a thought. I think it is called rip-stop nylon,
the
little checked pattern does something to make it more durable!?!
Please contact Mark Smith here at Knit-Rite at 800-821-3094 or by e-mail
at <Email Address Redacted> He can answer any questions you may have of the
material used for the Power Pull.
Maybe tent manufacturers have it.
I'm not sure where you are, but I found it at a Hancock fabric in the
Chicago suburbs. Lots of colors to choose from. I just took one w/ me
to show the person what I needed and she took me right to it (I think
it's ripstop nylon).
I would recommend a local kite shop, if you have one near you, that
makes
custom kites. OR, maybe you could find the material online via the kite
path.
The material is ripstop nylon if it is the same as something else
I saw. It is the same material parachutes are made from. Thin and light
but durable. You should be able to go to a fabric store and find it in
various colors. There may be different levels of quality available.
I've heard it is parachute material in the past. Try the parachute
store.
This is usually a light weight dacron sail cloth used for the spinnaker
that flies in front of the sailboat in the shape of a partial sphere.
I can tell you it's called rip-stop nylon and is used for parachutes,
tents and other rough environment uses.
Arion is the manufacturer of the Easy-Proth, the donning aid for upper
leg prostheses. The kind of material we use is part of the uniqueness of
the product. Therefore, I can't give you any additional information
about that. On the other hand, we might be able to assist you in
whatever it is you would like to make. Please let me know if there's
anything we can do for you.
