My thanks to all who responded. The responses are included below

HERE IS WHAT I HAVE DETERMINED

OSSUR DERMO 3MM - AFRICAN AMERICAN, LOW-MOD ACTIVITY LEVEL, DRY SKIN,
VOCATIONAL SITTING REQUIRED, SEVERE VASCULAR COMPROMISE WHERE PATIENT CANNOT
TOLERATE CONSTRICTION THIGH

OSSUR STABILO 3MM - CAUCASIAN, DRY SKIN, MOD-HIGH ACTIVITY LEVEL, NO SEVERE
VASCULAR PROBLEMS

OSSUR COMFORT 3MM - CAUCASIAN OR AFRICAN AMERICAN, NO DRY SKIN OR MINIMAL,
MOD ACTIVITY LEVEL, VOCATIONAL SITTING

ALPHA LINERS - USUALLY FOR CONICAL LIMBS, LARGER THIGH CIRCUMFERENCES,
YOUNGER PATIENTS, VERY HIGH ACTIVITY LEVELS

I WOULD ONLY CHANGE ON THE 3MM OF THE OSSUR LINERS IF THE LIMB WERE
EXTREMELY BONY AS THE UNIFORM PROFILE OF THE 6MM CAUSES PAIN AND SOME SKIN
BREAKDOWN IN THE POPLITEAL REGION

******

over the past few years, I have been using the Medipro

3 mm tapered silicone liners the most. I am in the process of switching
over to the ossur dermo liners due to several issues with skin rashes with
the medipro liners.

These issues are not just the run of the mill irritations, As a test group,
I have several active amputees who love the medipro liner and adhere to
proper care of these liners. The slin irritations subside after about a
month of use with these medipro liners and this happens each time they
receive a new medipro liner. The only thing I can think of is that the
company use a separating agent during the fabrication of the liner which is
causing the skin reaction.

So if any one else reports the same problem please inform me. Thanks for
putting together this list, I am really interested in the results

******

I use Alpha 6mm liners & Iceross 500 6 mm. I prefer Iceross over Alpha
because I think there more durable, however, my patient prefer the Alpha's
when given the opportunity to change from Iceross to Alpha.

after many years of using this system, I have come to develop a preference
for mineral gel and urethane liners. They last longer, they are generally
more forgiving in both rough handling and the comfort aspect and none of
them have given any of my patients skin reactions. I had those all the time
with silicon. The Gel seem to last longer than the urethane.

6 mm, Ossur, Silicone

**Iceross Comfort, Standard 3mm, Silicone.

Evolution liner 6 mm silicone from freedom-innovations

******

I use Ossur, 6mm, Dermo, liners most frequently. I've attempted some seal-in
sockets, and have had limited success, probably a learning curve issue.

******

My preference is Alps ELDT 6/3 tapered with or without lock and Ossurs
Dermoliner, also tapered, but don't use them much anymore because I'm as
aggravated with them, Ossur, as everyone else. I used to use them
exclusively. Is my nose still there? These are for trans-tibs.
Trans-fems. get Bock and Ossur liners with total matrixs' and lanyards.

I like the feel of Alp's and the 12 mm of distal gel. Dermoliner's Aloe Vera
material is nice for the diabetic geriatric with their dry, flaky skin and
have found them both to be reliable and durable.

I will also use Alps ELPX?, on scarred, adherent, or otherwise problematic
skin issues. Its that uniform 6mm gelatinous opaque liner without pin. I
also rely on Tec's gel spots rather than creating voids for reliefs in my
sockets. I think liner failures are primarily caused by voids.
