Over 100 players signed up for the Barr Foundation's first annual charity
event, TEXAS HOLD-EM POKER TOURNAMENT FUNDRAISER, held at the Academy's
31st Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium and ACPOC Meeting in Orlando on
March 18th.
Nearly $5,000 was raised for the Barr Foundation to continue their work in
both in the USA and abroad to provide prosthetic rehabilitation to amputees
whom other wise could not afford it.Over 1,000 amputees have been assisted
to date by the efforts of the Barr Foundation, its sponsors and Hope
Donors.
Motivated primarily by knowing that the proceeds were going to a good cause,
players and non players alike were also provided a delightful unlimited
buffet, open bar, and giant TV screen for viewing the basketball playoffs,
by the five gracious corporate sponsors of the benefit.

Everyone whom participated were determined to be the winners but perhaps
those whom will be the grand prize winners will be the amputees awarded
prosthetic rehabilitation whom otherwise would not have the financial
resources to obtain it.
The Barr Foundation would not only like to express their appreciation for
the generosity and hard work provided by the sponsors, donors and all the
players that were involved in making this charity event possible, but I was
personally humbled by witnessing the generosity and camaraderie of the
industry and practitioner interests, whom unilaterally came together to make
this benefit a huge success.
I and many others found this event as a welcomed forum for starting new
friendships and not divided by provider /industry competition nor political
barricades.
With this sort or collaboration anything is possible.
My sincere thanks and appreciation to you all and to the Academy for helping
us to make this a highly successful AND FUN event, and a first of many to
come.
