Thank you for all the suggestions and referrals. I hope this helps
everyone to put otherwise unuseable items to a greater good.

Original message:
For some time we have been donating used orthotic and prosthetic
devices, components and occasionally materials to the World
Rehabilitation Fund in New York. From my understanding the World Rehab
Fund sorted though the products and sent them to third world countries.
We received a letter stating that they no longer are accepting materials
and in fact refused the last shipment.
Does anyone know of any organizations that will accept these types of
materials? If so please pass that information along. It troubles us to
think these items won't put to some greater good and will have to be
discarded.

Thank you,
Chris Casteel, RTO

I will be happy to accept your used usable components. I work with
an
organization that goes down to Central America. We are a 501c3
non-profit
group so your donations can be tax deductible (or the patient's) if
they so
desire. I am sorry to hear about the changes in the WRF.
Please send any available used components to:
Rob Kistenberg
5332 NW 9th Lane
Gainesville, FL 32605
Thanks,
Rob

I would be grateful if you could consider helping our cause in Romania.
We
collaborate with a group in CA from whom we do sometimes receive useful

components. A problem is that they do not know which components are
useful, but I
am sure that Mr. Taylor and his department could be of help there to be
 able
to cut down on weight and bulk caused by certain parts of used
prosthetics.

I just spent a week in Guatemala with Wayne Cottle, of COTA (see
ChildrenoftheAmericas.com).

We may be able to use most of what you are concerned about. I am in
Mexico for the week, but can receive emails. We currently have about 40
AK and UE prostheses to fabricate. Let me know if you would be
interested in donating.

I deal with a group called Lumier Medical Ministries out of North
Carolina
who deals with the needs of the people of Haiti. I have made a mission
trip to
Haiti and have sent supplies on occassions. I am planning a return trip
and am
in need of anything (new or used) that can be spared. These are
desperate
people that gladly take what we would throw away. You can send things
to my office
in care of Lumier. The address is:
Life Tech Orthotics & Prosthetics
9714 N. Kings Hwy
Suite 142
Myrtle Beach, SC 29572

Thank you,

I'm writing from Hermano Miguel Foundation in Quito, Ecuador (South
America). We have an orthotic & prosthetic laboratory and some times
we
have received donations of this kind of items from USA. But now we want
you
to know that a group of 13 prosthetics from USA are here in our
country
helping 44 amputees with prostheses. We know they ask for parts to
come
every year, in fact this is their 3th. year here. I am sending you
the
e-mail of Dino Cozzarelli who is in charge, maybe you can talk about
this.

Thank you for thinking about the people in need of help.
