It is with deep sadness that I must inform the O & P community that Dr.
Sidney Fishman passed away earlier this week at the age of 85. Dr. Fishman
succumbed after a brief battle with cancer.
Dr. Fishman was active in the O & P community from the end of World War II
through January of this year - and never stopped working for and believing
in the highest standards for O & P professionals. Over a career of more than
50 years he participated in the formation and direction of prosthetic and
orthotic education not only in the United States but in countless countries
around the world.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, children and grandchild. A memorial
service will be taking place this Thursday (2/10/05) in New York City.
