List Members,
Here are the responses to my question about AE harness options. Thanks to all who responded with some good ideas. I’ve obtained a TRS BAHA harness ring, and will probably use that or some modified form of it.

I'm looking for some ideas to replace the Northwestern ring on a harness set up for a short AE patient. The patient now has two N-rings, situated vertically about 1 apart [connected to each other by a 1 dacron strap], to create a more efficient line of pull for the control strap and increase comfort. This set up works better than only one ring, but the proximal ring continues to put excessive pressure on the back of the neck. I'm making a leather saddle type deal with buckles/straps attached.
** Otto Bock has an interesting figure of 9 design that looks interesting to me. Call them an find out more about it.
** Yoy may want to look in the TRS catologue. There is a new harness attachment called the Baha. It is made out of plastic and is angled to provide optimal excursion Bio-Mechanically Aligned Harness Anchor The BAHA, pronounced Baja, or Bio-mechanically Aligned Harness Anchor is a high strength, lightweight, non-metallic prosthetic component designed to improve Figure 8 Harness dynamics. The BAHA eliminates the ring!
*** Did you try attaching the 4 bar for the control strap directly to the inferior axilla loop where it exits the axilla? This most efficiently captures the scapula excursion from the contralateral side. This is a modification from the UCLA Z harness, which actually works the best, but will not lay flat.
*** One option that you may think of is the Strap Saddle or at least the Z cross back strap that passes through the hanger and attaches to the contralateral axilla.
