I was asked by a physio therapist if a hand splint can be fitted to
accommodate this paediatric patient.
The patient is 11 years old,
and had a hemispherectomy (R) in November 2000.
Has good shoulder movement and strength
She needs wrist extension (she can lift her wrist till neutral but with
difficulty)
Supination is GII - Decreased range of motion.
Has some finger extension, but with wrist flexion. (Finger flexion GIII, but
with spasticity)
Only flicker movement of the thumb
Will it be possible to stabilize the wrist in slight extension for function
(supination will help, but for now is not the ultimate goal)?
The splint required is mainly to aid finger extension and thumb movements.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated
