Hi Everyone,
I received in the mail today info concerning the settlement of a class
action lawsuit filed against Cigna. The settlement covers claims filed
from 1-1-90 through 12-29-04. Within the language, orthotists and
prosthetists are specifically stated (can you believe it?)! You can get
more info from the Settlement Administrator at (888) 230-9905 or go to
www.cignaprovidersettlement.com
< <URL Redacted>> .
I am in region B, but I wonder how and if this will affect Cigna's
relationship with the region D DMERC? I'd love to get your input and
keep this thread going. I hope this is a small win for the good guys
(us)!
This litigation is generally about:
- ...edits to unilaterally bundle, down code and/or
reject claims for medically necessary services
- Failing and/or refusing to recognize CPT modifiers;
- Misrepresenting and/or refusing to disclose applicable
fee schedules;
- Failing to pay claims for medically necessary covered
services.
- .failing to disclose the use of appropriate or unsound
criteria to calculate payments. (you get the idea)
Have a great day!
Lisa Schoonmaker, CPO
