Hello List and Happy Holidays to all!!
I have a 13 year old boy with Spina Bifida who has outgrown his last
stander. We are in the process of getting him a new one however we can't
seem to find something simple that will fit him. We tried a VASI vertical
stander form Toronto - it was very simple and reasonably priced but too
narrow and he is already at the maximum height for the device.
Ideally we would like something very simple with or without wheels (if it
has wheels they need to be lockable and removeable) to be used with rigid
AFO's. No tilting is necessary, no walking action needing, no wheelchair
stander. Our main problem is cost, $2000-$3000 retail is about our limit.
Our client is 13 y.o., LE flaccid paralysis. Right hip dislocated
posteriorly, right knee approx 30deg valgus with full extension, left knee
flexion contracture 35 degrees with hip flexion contracture of 25deg with
neutral valgus. Overall there is a 1 1/2 LLD R<L. Total height is 50,
height to axilla is 40, weight is 85 lbs. Diameters at axilla 13, at GT's
12.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. FYI - he has already had surgical
releases and corrections and now the doctor would like him to stand more to
prevent the contractures from returning.
Thank you for your help and Best Wishes to all for a safe and happy
holiday!!
