My local Childrens rehab center has recently stopped fabricating TRAFO's
due to their lack of a proper dust collection system for grinding and
finishing the TRAFO's that are made from 3M fiberglass casting tape.
They would now like to use my facility to do so. Apparently there are
some nasty isocyanate particles in the air when doing this!
My questions are..
1) What are the cast tech's doing to protect themselves and
patients when cutting casts off all day in the cast room?
2) Has anyone had a reaction from a client when casting with this
material, either from skin contact or inhalation?
Just curious for your thoughts.
