Dear List,
Below are responses recd. to subject: Crystal Clear Carbon Kevlar lamination
I wonder ageing process is easily viewable in clear cast rather than opaque lamination.
However I presume to abandon clear cast lamination process of endoskeletal prosthesis overall wall thickness around 4mm, after surfing this site mrfiberglass.com visiting web page Clear Casting Resin.
Thanks again to respondents for sharing valuable info.
Regards

If you want a clear lamination use carbon acrylic resin from Bauerfein
(IPOS)and no color of course. Also de-gas the acrylic for 8-10 minutes
under
vaccum before pouring into the lamination bag (PVA). Your model must be
well
sealed with a inner PVA bag. Acrylic resins and moisture do not mix.

I have had good success using carbon acryl resin over a layer of
braided carbon for my final lamination. To get a nice shine to the lamination
I flip the PVA bag inside out and it produces a glass-like shine.

Dear Mr. Sahni:
If you are looking a finish like a composite on your sockets where you see the weave of the material then it is a very simple step. Choose a resine which does not haze and do not add color to it. I have done literally hundreds of lamination where the weave give a very beautiful finish. specially when the lamination is done with carbon fiber.
There are several very good resins. You may want to try laminating epoxies, vinyl esters or alumilite clear version without any pigment or colour. The result will be that you will be able to see the weave and patterns. If you want to laminate you can also laminate flags. In order to keep flag or some motifs you want to put a see through nylon over the objects you want to laminate.
